Saipan -- Japanese Monuments





These are monuments that the Japanese built in Saipan. They were like parks with bridges and lots of stuff. Yes made by Japanese that held the Island, I think, when the war started. In the first picture, you can see the jeep that I was issued to use to run errands, etc.

The bottom picture is an old shrine near the old Japanese Jail. It has since been destroyed.

I was wrong. I thought that was this:

but it is not. That might be the old shrine in Garapan, but I'm not sure.
